Now that we are smack dab in a new year, we have begun to make subtle changes in our lifestyle to improve ourselves. Why not focus on another faction of ourselves – our smile? We know you’ve been putting it off getting a crown for as long as possible. Why not make it now?
Dental crown procedures are recommended to patients for the following reasons: a weak tooth that requires something to hold it together, a tooth so discolored that it can no longer be fixed through conventional means or cosmetic reasons. While most crowns are made out of porcelain or ceramic, you can also get resin or stainless steel. Do your research as there are pros and cons to each.
Installing a dental crown typically takes two visits – first for installation of the temporary crown and the second for the placement of the permanent one. But we use the procedure CEREC crowns in a day, cutting down time and inconvenience considerably. During your visit, the dentist will examine the problem tooth and begin filing it down in preparation of the crown. In cases of severely damaged and broken teeth, the dentist may have to fill the tooth in so it’s large enough for the crown.
Once the dentist has finished filing or filling the tooth, the dentist will then take an impression of the tooth and its surroundings to create a permanent crown will be made according to its measurements. Once created, it will replace the temporary crown with a special adhesive and to make sure that the crown is placed properly.
